Botany

The department of Botany was started in the year 1953 and is one of the oldest in the state of Andhra Pradesh. In early days the deapartment offered PUC and later introduced the U.G. programmes. Many dedicated teachers of the department inculcated value based botanical knowledge coupled with wisdom and skills to the learners during the past 7 decades. From time to time new programmes were introduced to cater the needs of students. The department offering U.G. programmes such as BZC, BBC, BBC(Hons.), B.C. Horticulture, BC.Agriculture, B.Voc.(Horticulture) based on the local empolyment needs. The students of the deaprtment attained good positions in India and abroad. M.Sc., (Botany) programme was started in the year 2009. From the 2023-24 Academic Year two U.G. (Honours) single major programmes i.e., B.Sc., (Botany-Hons. by Research) and B.Sc., (Organic Farming-Hons.) as per the NEP-2020. The department offers courses of classical as well as modern branches of Botany to make work ready graduates and entrepreneurs. The department has well equipped laboratories to hone practical skills to the students. The faculty members practcing various pedagogical tools for the over-all development of the students as per the college motto - 'Student First'.
