Celebration of International Yoga Day – Department of Physical Education
Government (Autonomous) Arts College, Rajahmundry
As part of the nationwide celebrations of International Yoga Day on June 21,the Department of Physical Education at Government (A) Arts College, Rajahmundry, actively participated in the month-long Yoga Mahotsav initiated by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. This initiative, declared from May 21 to June 21 as “Yoga Month”, aimed to promote physical and mental wellness among students and staff, in alignment with the vision of our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who graced the state-level celebration in Visakhapatnam alongside the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
Our college embraced this spirit by organizing a series of yoga events on June 14, June 18, and the grand finale on June 21. These events witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students, particularly from the Department of Physical Education. Under the guidance of Department In-Charge Sri M. Prasad and Physical Directors PVV.lakshmi and Sri T. Vijay students engaged in various yoga practices that fostered discipline, mindfulness, and holistic health.
The Department of Physical Education played a pivotal role in planning, organizing, and conducting these events smoothly and successfully. The celebrations not only created awareness about the importance of yoga in daily life but also reflected the parallel spirit of the grand event held in Visakhapatnam.
Organizer(s):
Department of Physical Education and all remaining wings of college

Community Involvement: As the celebrations were also open to the public, several residents of Rajahmundry joined the sessions, creating a bridge between the college and the local community. This helped spread awareness about the importance of yoga in daily life.
Promotion of Indian Heritage: The events showcased the cultural and traditional value of yoga, reinforcing pride in India’s ancient practices and encouraging the youth to embrace them.
Positive Campus Vibes: The serene and focused atmosphere created during the yoga month reflected in overall student discipline and enthusiasm on campus.
