BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT:

The Department of Zoology was established in this prestigious and historical institution in the year 1953 with Chemistry and Botany as other options of the group, C.B.Z. with a sanctioned strength of 60 students.

The advanced and restructured courses namely, Biotechnology with Botany and Chemistry as other optional and Medical lab Technology course with Microbiology and Chemistry as other optional were introduced during the academic year 1998-99.

The postgraduate programme in Zoology was introduced from the academic year 2001-2002.

The MZC Course (Microbiology, Zoology and Chemistry) was introduced in the year 2005-06 in place of MLT Course as per the instructions of the Commissionerate of Higher Education, Hyderabad.

Later during the academic year 2008-09 the restructured course of Biotechnology has been separated and given individual Departmental status.
