Grievance Redressal Cell

Introduction :

The College has a Grievance Redressal Cell to redress the grievances of its stakeholders. The Cell enables a student to express feelings by initiating and pursuing the grievance procedure in accordance with the rules and regulations of the College. 'Grievance Redressal Cell' enquires and analyses the nature and pattern of the grievances in a strictly confidential manner. Emphasis on procedural fairness has been given with a view to "the right to be heard and right to be treated without bias". The cell with faculty members headed by the coordinator Smt. D.Krishna, Incharge-Department of Botany

Objectives:

  • The objective of the Grievance Cell is to develop a responsive and accountable attitude among all the stakeholders in order to maintain a harmonious educational atmosphere in the College.
  • Encouraging the Students to express their grievances / problems freely and frankly, without any fear of being victimized.
  • “Grievances” include the following complaints of the aggrieved students, namely: –
    1. Making admission contrary to merit determined in accordance with the declared admission policy of the institute;
    2. Irregularity in the admission process adopted by the institute;
    3. Refusing admission in accordance with the declared admission policy of the institute;
    4. Non publication of prospectus, as specified;
    5. Publishing any information in the prospectus, which is false or misleading, and not based on facts;
    6. Withhold or refuse to return any document in the form of certificates of degree, diploma or any other award or other document deposited with it by a person for the purpose of seeking admission in such institution, with a view to induce or compel such person to pay any fee or fees in respect of any course or program of study which such person does not intend to pursue;
    7. Demand of money in excess of that specified in the declared admission policy or approved by the competent authority to be charged by such institution;
    8. Breach of the policy for reservation in admission as may be applicable;
    9. Complaints, of alleged discrimination of students, from the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Women, Minority or Disabled categories;
    10. Non payment or delay in payment of scholarships to any student that such institution is committed, under the conditions imposed by University Grants Commission, or by any other authority;
    11. Delay in conduct of examinations or declaration of results beyond that specified in the academic calendar;
    12. On provision of student amenities as may have been promised or required to be provided by the institution;
    13. Denial of quality education as promised at the time of admission or required to be provided;
    14. Non transparent or unfair evaluation practices;
    15. Harassment and victimization of students, including sexual harassment

Procedure for lodging complaint :

  • The students are advised to approach the Committee members or their class proctors at any time during the college hours to express their grievances/problems.
  • Suggestion / complaint Box is installed in front of the Pricipal’s Chamber in which the students/staff, who want to remain anonymous, can drop their grievances/suggestions in writing for improving the Academics/ Administration in the College.
  • Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in and outside the institution. Any violation of ragging and disciplinary rules should be urgently brought to the notice of the Principal.

Functions of the Grievance Redressel Cell :

  • The function of the cell is to look into the complaints lodged by any student/staff and judge its merit.
  • To ensure effective solution to the student’s grievances with an impartial and fair approach.
  • The cases will be attended promptly on receipt of written grievances from the students.
  • In most of the cases, the grievances are heard in person and find solutions instantly, depending upon the seriousness of the issue.
  • The cell will give report to the Principal about the cases attended to and the number of pending cases, if any, which require direction and guidance from the higher authorities.

The I year girls complained about missing of their mobiles in their classroom when they were out for nature calls Immediate Search is taken by the Class teacher and find the mobiles The Principal warned not to repeat the situation as it will reflects on the career and the traced mobiles are handed to the girls

2. The girls complained that some outsiders are harassing while coming to college The matter was reported to the class teacher and reported to the discipline committee for action The committee resolved in the meeting that students should wear ID cards and uniform while coming to college.
3. Girls from Art's block complained about the maintenance of washrooms and water facility Discussed with the maintenance committee to restore water facility and other Water facility etc., is restored within few hours

2. The PG students reported that the contingent staff are locking the wash rooms before 4PM, as it is a problem to staff and students as the college is working after 5pm also. A complaint from a I year B.Sc(BZC) girl stating that one of the boys are following and teasing her that he is liking and compiling to love him The women cell and the discipline committee made an enquiry about the boy and called his parents and informed the situation of teasing the girl, and the parents requested to excuse their son and wouldn't repeat and submitted the apology letter to the committee The situation is under control and no other such cases are reported as the principal warned if such cases arrives they will be issued to TC and sent out of college
2. Some students of science block requested to provide water facility during the college working time has they are coming from almost 20 to 30 km far away from their house with their lunch boxes and a bottle of water,1 liter of water is not sufficient for the whole days The water taps were increased in number for full supply for the need of students with arranging new connections to drinking spots at science and arts block The water facility problem has been solved with in a week by the Principal and the concerned committee members
3. Some class students of the college made a complaint that their note books and records are missing in the class by the classmates before the examinations The class teacher noted the matter and counseled all the students not to repeat by giving some ethical examples and regularity to classes will not lead to negative aspects All the students responded and realized to be with leadership qualities to reach the higher goals of their life.

Note: No grievances in written form are received. Grievances otherwise received were forwarded to the College Empower Committee for immediate redressal. In all such cases prompt action were taken and the matter sorted out.
