The Department of Chemistry of this college is one of the oldest departments in the State, as well as in the Country.

  • The department started UG Courses in 1891 & PG courses in 1971-72.
  • At present, the department is offering 12 UG Courses and 3 PG Courses.
  • The department is the biggest in the state with 28 sanctioned posts.
  • The department is equipped with advanced research facilities and 06 Doctoral faculty.
  • The Dept has a Research Centre recognized by Andhra University, Visakhapatnam in 2005, and also by Adi Kavi Nannaya University, Rajahmundry in 2017.
  • At present 04 members of our faculty got guide ship for guiding M.Phil and Ph.D Scholars.
  • The department participates in the extension activities of the college like Environmental Protection Programmes (Ozone day) etc.
  • Some of the faculty are members of BOS committees for colleges under Andhra University, Adi Kavi Nannaya University and other Autonomous Colleges.
  • The meritorious students produced from our Department are well placed in India and abroad and enhanced the prestige of the College.
  • Recently, the department introduced job oriented courses like Food M.Z.C, Agro B.B.C in 2017-18 and M.C. Analytical Chemistry ZC Aquaculture and BC Horticulture in 2018-19.
  • The department also offering certificate course like Chemical Lab Technician.
  • The department conducting National Seminar / Work Shops/Conferences/ National Science Day celebrations/Lab to School programmes to enrich the knowledge of the students.
