ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Faculty Member Sri S.Purushotham is a certified Mana TV lesson presentation in Nov 2010. He has given IRC(Intensive Remedial Coaching) program of the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, A.P. program for Business Economics for B.Com Students.
  • Faculty Member Sri. S.Purushotham and past member Sri D.Virajanana in a workshop for Economics Lesson Grading for 5 days as subject experts conducted by CCE, Govt. of A.P., Hyd out of 87 state level prepared lessons in Economics. 
  •  Sri S.Purushotham and D.Virajanand selected 72 lessons fit for digital library to be established in every college by the CCE, Hyderabad.
  • The Department of Economics coordinated the programmee conducted from 24th February to 1st March 2011 in District Resource Centre, GC (A), RJY. Sri. P.L.Naidu acted as Centre Coordinator and Sri S.Purushotham participated in the orientation. Fifty Five Govt, Aided and Un-aided college lecturers participated in the district of East Godavari.
  • The Andhra Bank of East Godavari District has been organizing training programs for Rural Unemployed Youth in the Pattabi Gardens in Andhra Institute of Rural Development(ABIRD)
  • The Director of ABIRD attended for a seminar in the Department of Economics on 4/2/2008 and motivated the students to join the training programs of the above institute for self employment and self support programs. An MOU was agreed with the Principal, Govt. College (A), Rajahmundry and Director, ABIRD for training eligible final U.G students from the academic year 2008-2009. Accordingly a batch of 15 students were selected for Hardware training and 15 more students for Software training each with a duration in 45 days without any cost for the training, free hostel accommodation and boarding was provided by the Institute.

DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES 

 

  • We are providing Question Banks to All the students of Economics to help them in the Examination.

 

  • Besides Class room  Instruction we are conducting Seminars, Quiz programs, Group Discussion, Guest Lecturers, Extension Lectures, Debates, Essay Writing and Field Survey with the students for better understanding of the subject and the current Economics Issues Problems faced by the people living Below Poverty Line.

 

  • For Final Year B.A Students we are giving coaching for AUCET & ICET every week

 

  • We are also providing them the necessary objective type of material for the above and other competitive examinations.

 

  • In order to help the students to write the Competitive Examinations confidently we  are providing Quiz Bank for General Knowledge mainly concentrating on topics in Economics
  • Economic Guidance, Career Counseling and parent- teacher Meets are undertaken under this program by the projectors.
  • Recently we have held interactive meeting with the students of Humanities and Statistics in the Local Colleges – V.T. College, Rajamahendravaram and S.K.R College for Women’s, Rajamahendravaram.  This Interaction helped in improving their subjects’ awareness and to create better understanding among the students.  They exchange their views on curricular and co-curricular activities of their concerned Colleges.

 

  • Most of the students seeking admission into our Under-Graduate programmes are first generation learners from Rural and Semi-Urban Backgrounds.  Some students joined in B.A and B.Com Classes don’t have the knowledge of Economics as they passed Intermediate with M.P.C & Vocational Courses.  Hence a Bridge course is offered by the faculty of the Department with in the first month of Admissions to upgrade their knowledge of the subject.
  • Remedial classes are offered for the academically Backward Students identified based on their marks in the monthly test.
  • It is the concept of the Department of Higher Education, Govt.of.A.P,  MANA TV gets lessons prepared by the subject experts from all over the state and telecast them for the benefit of the students.  Our students are attending the programs regularly whenever the lessons in Economics are telecast.

 

  • The Department is Motivating and Encouraging students to take part in co-curricular N.S.S / N.C.C / Sports activities of the College.  Apart from regular activities special camps, Blood Donation camps and leadership and personality development camps were organized. 
  • It is a privilege to mention that the Department of Economics is maintaining rapport with DRDA and INDIRA KRANTHI PADAKAM the program of Govt. of A.P. Seminars and Workshops were organized to bring awareness among the community through the students representing Rural Villages of Rajamahendravaram.  Beneficiaries were identified under INDIRA KRANTHI PADAKAM.
  • The expertise of the faculty is utilized by the School of Distance Education, Andhra University and study center of B.R.Ambedkar Open University in Teaching Economics to the candidates who appear for B.A and M.A Economics examinations through Study Centers.  The Local Colleges are utilizing the expertise of the faculty as subject experts for appointments in their colleges.  Our students are participating in the extension activities.
  • The faculty involved in Question Paper Setting of many Autonomous Colleges viz VIJAYNAGARAM, KAKINADA, ELURU, BHIMAVARAM, NARSAPURAM and YOGI VEMANA University Kadapa for B.A., B.Com, B.Sc and M.Sc Integrated Courses and also involved in the Budget Discussions by the prominent organization locally, attended Seminars.  The faculty is assisting in coaching classes for Civil Services and State Service Exams organized by A.P. Govt. BC Study Circle and also for Lecturer’s Examination.
  • The faculty members have been contributing to very poor and needy students by contributing in the form of books, Fee Payment and support them for PG Studies.
