FIELD TRIP TRIP OF DWARAKA TIRUMALA,ONGC DRILLING CITE,DUDDUKURU BASALT

  •  Dwarakatirumala situated in NE of west Godavaridist. The place located at latitude 160511 and atlongitudes 810151 in the survey of India toposheet. Theplace has not only a geological importance but also a holy place for Hindus.
  • Pasarlapudi is a rural  place near Amalapuram of  East Godavari district. There  are many ONGC drill sites occur aroundAmalapuram. It is near to the sea. The present visited drill site is 37-PSDEof  Pasarlapudi, during thr visiteddrilling  going on, and the depth isnearly 170 ft.
  • The main features of Duddukuru is themany trappean and intratrappean beds have been identified and the basaltformation is very big columanar joints are clearly observed.Basalts are interlinked with interatrappean beds.
  • Here we abserved many fossliferrous limestone like Mollusca (Turritella,Natulus, Gryfea)Some fossils clearly found andwe collect them and placed in our Geology Museum.The trend of the strike anddip is N620E.In this area dip deeper level,and the coal formationof  Lignite also we observed.
