Metcalfe Hostel

The Government College Men’s Hostel was established in the year 1948 in the name of E.P. Metcalfe, the first Principal of the College. The hostel consists of 34 spacious rooms, which can provide accommodation to around 150 students. The hostel also contains a reading room, Gymnasium and a quadrangle that is being used as play ground by the student inmates. The hostellers are provided an attached mess with dining hall that has capacity for about 100 students at a time, storeroom to keep provisions and vegetables and kitchen.

From the inception of the Hostel, thousands of students have stayed and completed their studies successfully. Many of the hostel inmates have occupied important positions in various fields.

  • The Hostel building a square-shaped, two step building built is a remarkable specimen of architecture.
  • The Hostels are an integral part of the college. Hostels has been magnificently designed for women with all necessary amenities for boarding and other recreational activities.
  • Facilities are available for about 150 students who are under supervision of Chief warden and Deputy warden.
  • The Hostel administrative team includes the Principal acting as Chief Warden and the Deputy warden is a Lecturer.
  • The day to day functioning is taken care of by a full time resident Deputy Warden and a House keeper.
  • The spirit of oneness is fortnightly as students come from different social, economic and religious backgrounds

HOSTEL AMENITIES:

  • Office room with internet facility, Reading room cum TV room, spacious and hygienic kitchen, Dining hall and Deputy warden’s room are in the ground floor.
  • Kitchen: Spacious and well equipped kitchen. Skilled workers for cooking, serving and cleaning.
  • Dining hall: It has very spacious with above 50 Tables and benches.
  • RO plant water facility is available with 250 litres capacity.
  • Each student is provided with a Cot, table, study chair and Almirah.
  • The hostel provides daily News papers, Students can utilize the hostel TV during the leisure Hours.
  • Shuttle court is available in quadrangle of the hostel.
