The birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule and National Women Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Government Arts College (A), Rajahmundry, on January 3, 2024. On this occasion, Principal Dr. Ramachandra Rao garlanded the statue of Savitribai Phule on the campus and emphasized that while women are leading in various fields, research remains a challenging area that needs more female representation. Dr. B. Bhavani from the Women Empowerment Cell highlighted that women in every field have been supported by men, just as Jyotirao Phule supported Savitribai Phule, fostering a healthy society. Dr. P.V.V. Satyanarayana, Telugu Department in-charge, noted that women have brought significant changes to society and emphasized the need for a cultural shift led by women. Dr. Sita Mahalakshmi from the Politics Department and Dr. J. Suresh from the Chemistry Department also shared insights on Savitribai Phule's contributions.
