Arts College Helping Hands Association (ACHHA)


ACHHA is a Students driven voluntary service initiative - a platform to render service to the student community of the college as well as to the society outside the college. 'ACHHA' provides a platform to the students of the college to associate themselves with service activities and learn leadership skills, and finally become good citizens of India. Initially floated by the students of 2014-15 Outgoing students of the College, with an aim to act as a service hand of the college to help the needy both within the college and outside the college. The faculty of the Department of English acted as the advisors to the Non-formal Service platform, to streamline the service oriented spirit and thoughts of the students.

Objectives:

  • To establish a network of students with service spirit to help the needy within the students community and outside
  • To encourage the students help within themselves in the fields of studies, preparation for exams, and career planning
  • To encourage the students in taking up community service programs
  • To bring awareness among the students about the need to have ‘Student Social Responsibility (SSR).
  • To facilitate improvement of team work and leadership skills among the students so as to make them responsible citizens.

Activities under ACHHA:

  • Donated Steel Water Tank and other Kitchen utensils to the Priyadarshini Home of Deaf & Dumb children, Rajahmundry.
  • Donated Rice bags and other food items to the students of Nova School for Blind children
  • Collected an amount of 1,05,000/- and donated to Mr. Baburao, a student of B.Sc. (BZC) 2013-16 who was suffering from Brain infection, for his surgery. He was sent to NIMS, Hyderabad, with the help and support of the ACHHA team, during operation a few students attended to him. The operation was successful and the student survived and later completed his degree, Diploma in Food Processing and is now working in Spensers, Rajahmundry.
  • Joy of Giving – by the students of Dept. of Physics
  • PSAF – Poor Students Aid Fund – collection of voluntary donations through Hundis to help the poor students in payments of fees – identified based on academic performance
