CENTRE FOR GANDHIAN STUDIES
The Centre for Gandhian Studies was established with the motive of promoting Gandhian philosophy and values among students and staff of the College.
Objectives:
- To create awareness on Gandhian principles like Truth, Non-violence, Satyagraha, Ends and Means, Gram Swaraj, and Trusteeship etc.
- To educate on the importance of swadeshi and role of cottage and village industries in socio-economic development of the nation.
- To renunciate violence and follow the path of positive non-violence to reduce tensions.
- To contribute in the progress of villages towards self-sustainability
- To assess the relevance of Gandhian philosophy in today’s technological world and the role it can play in addressing some of the current issues.
Activities:
- Adopting villages in nearby Rajahmundry and promoting Gandhian values in these villages
- Educating young minds on Gandhian philosophy and the impact it can create in their transformation
- Arranging invited talks/lectures on Gandhian principles
- Celebrating October 2 every year to commemorate Gandhian teachings
- Promoting Khadi among students and faculty
