Department of BOTANY

  • The Department was started in 1953 to cater the needs of B.Sc., B.Z.C. stream students with two laboratories, one museum and herbarium as a part of the college.
  • The Department is participating in conducting the Restructured course with Biotechnology with chemistry combination from 1998 onwards.
  • M.Sc. Botany course was started from 2009 – 10 onwards affiliated to Andhra University.
  • Advanced laboratory was started in 2011.
  • The Department is conducting Certificate course on plant propagation and nursery management.
  • The Department has MOU with Sri Satyadeva Nursery, Kadiyapulanka.
  • The Department is conducting knowledge development and skill development programme with the well established private agencies like Regional Forest Research centre in lalacheruvu and Central Tobacco Research Institute in CTRI.
  • The Department is coordination with chemistry and zoology Departments is conducting Interdisciplinary programs like symposium, National and International seminars.
  • Many Academicians, Scientists, doctors, principals. IAS Officers emerged from this Department.
  • The Department procured the equipment with UGC and Government funds year by year.
  • Our Department students were getting administrations in various universities of national and state level.
  • Botanical garden is being maintained.
