Rajahmundry Government College (A) Date: 19-11-2025 Organized by the Department of History under the supervision of Principal Dr. Ramachandra R.K. and Vice Principal Sri Ramamurthy, the Department of History proudly celebrated the birth anniversary of two legendary women, Rani Lakshmi Bai and Smt. Indira Gandhi, who shaped the history of India with their courage, leadership and patriotism. The program began with a floral tribute to Rani Lakshmi Bai and Smt. Indira Gandhi, who symbolized courage and sacrifice in India's first war of independence (1857). Principal Dr. Ramachandra R.K. addressed the gathering, emphasizing how the fearless spirit, extraordinary leadership and their role as an inspiration to women for generations, the two leaders symbolize women empowerment, resilience and national pride. Dr. B. Anjani Kumari, Assistant Coordinator, Women Empowerment Cell & History HOD, speaking about supporting women empowerment, said that India’s first woman Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi is remembered for her strong will, political acumen and significant contribution to national development, self-reliance and global diplomacy and Rani Lakshmi Bai for the courage she displayed in the 1857 Revolt. Faculty members English HOD Dr. Srilakshmi, Dr. Bhavani, History Faculty, P. Tulasi Kumari, P. Varaprasad.& D. Raju and students presented speeches and patriotic songs showcasing the legacy of these two eminent personalities. The programme concluded with an exposé of the values ​​of courage, discipline and service to the nation displayed by Rani Lakshmi Bai and Smt. Indira Gandhi.

Commemoration of the 1857 Revolt: The day serves to remember her pivotal role in the First Indian War of Independence, honoring the memory and sacrifices of those who fought for India's freedom.
The activities encouraged students to understand values like courage, leadership, determination, and patriotism. Cultural performances and discussions were particularly engaging and informative. The program was well-organized, informative, and inspiring. It successfully created awareness about the contributions of both leaders and motivated students to follow their ideals in their personal and social lives.
