The Department of History of Government College (A), Rajahmundry on 28-03-
2026 organized a guest lecture on “Principles and Techniques of Archaeology” under
the guidance of the Head of the Department, Dr. B. Anjani Kumari. The session was
delivered by Assistant Director K. Timmaraju, an expert in the field of archaeology.
The lecture focused on introducing students to the fundamental principles of
archaeology and the various scientific techniques used in excavation, preservation, and
interpretation of historical artifacts. All the students of First ,Second Year and final year
participated in the program. The session was interactive and informative, encouraging
students to the resource person explained methods such as stratigraphy, carbon dating,
surveying, and excavation procedures with practical examples.
Faculty members including P. Tulasi Kumari , K. Prasad and K.Krishna actively
participated in the session. The lecture was interactive, allowing students to ask
questions and gain deeper insights into archaeological practices and their relevance to
historical research.
