In commemoration of World Environment Day on 05th June 2025, a significant green initiative was undertaken at Government College (Autonomous), Rajahmundry, with the inauguration of a Miyawaki forest in front of the Metcalf Boys Hostel. The event witnessed the gracious presence of District Collector Smt. P. Prashanti, IAS, and City MLA Shri Adireddy Vasu Garu, along with key officials from the Forest Department.
Adding to the significance of the occasion, a large number of participants, including college faculty, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, Red Cross volunteers, and student representatives, actively took part in the programme. The collective effort underscored the commitment of the institution and the local administration towards environmental conservation and biodiversity enrichment.
The Miyawaki forest initiative aims to enhance green cover in the urban campus environment, contributing to better air quality, ecological balance, and climate resilience. The presence of dignitaries and enthusiastic participation of students and staff made the programme a grand success, reinforcing the importance of community involvement in sustainable development.
