As per the instructions received from the Government of Andhra Pradesh and under the active guidance of District Officials, the college’s SASA Committee has been taking up community-oriented environmental and civic engagement activities on every third Saturday of the month.
The theme for the month of June 2025 was “Neeru - Meeru”, focusing on Water Conservation and Awareness on Prevention of Water Wastage. The aim of this initiative was to educate students and the community on the importance of water resources, methods of conserving them, and promoting sustainable usage practices.
Program Highlights:
1. Awareness Rally:
A vibrant awareness rally was organized in and around the college campus. Holding banners and placards, students raised slogans promoting water conservation and the importance of responsible usage. The rally aimed to sensitize the public and students about the alarming issues of water wastage and the need for conservation efforts at the grassroots level.
2. Principal's Address:
The Principal of the college, Dr. K. Ramachandra Rao, addressed the gathering and emphasized practical steps to prevent water wastage. He encouraged volunteers to be ambassadors of water conservation in their communities. His speech stressed the vital role youth must play in ensuring sustainable environmental practices.
3. Participation:
o 120 NCC Cadets participated enthusiastically in the campaign.
o Active involvement from NSS volunteers, Red Cross volunteers, and students from various departments.
o Faculty members and coordinators lent their support and guidance throughout the event.
4. Plantation Drive:
Following the rally, cadets and volunteers participated in a plantation program within the campus premises, symbolizing the connection between greenery and water retention. Saplings were planted in water-stressed zones of the campus.
5. Faculty Involvement:
o Lt. Dr. Esub Basha Shaik – NCC Officer, coordinated cadet participation and supervised rally and plantation activities.
o Dr. K. Anusha – NCC Programme Officer, ensured smooth organization and student discipline.
o Sri G. Ravi Teja – SASA College Coordinator, monitored event logistics and implementation.
o Other faculty members and non-teaching staff offered their cooperation and encouragement throughout the program.
Conclusion:
The “Neeru - Meeru” Awareness Campaign conducted on 21-06-2025 stands as a successful initiative under the SASA monthly activity framework. It strengthened the college’s commitment to environmental awareness and student-led civic responsibility. The active participation of NCC, NSS, and Red Cross volunteers, under the guidance of college authorities, made the event impactful both within and outside the college campus.
