Best Practices

LEARN WHILE TEACH

Every year the students of Physics department take initiation and identify one govt. school / govt. hostel in the city and provide assistance in areas such as academics, lab facilities etc.,

STUDENT AS A TEACHER PROGRAMME: Tutorial classes were held in the morning hours from 6am to 8am every day in the BC welfare hostel children were taught difficult lessons and doubts were cleared in the question and answer session.  Activity based learning was given prime importance.  Students were made into groups, pairs and discussions were initiated.

 LAB TO SCHOOL PROGRAMME:  

The Department of Physics has initiated LAB to School Programme which is aimed at practically showing the principles of Physics to the students of the school through working models. Basic physics content was delivered using simple experiments to the students of Govt. school. Under this programme, fifteen basic physics principles experiments were designed .The experimental models were taken to schools and explained the principles on which they work. Low cost equipment was designed with readily available material. At the end of the programme – a Science Exhibition was conducted. It was a three week programme. Every day 4 to 6 pm the staff and M.Sc students went to school and demonstrated practicals covered in their curriculum. Each day a team of students went to the school and explained the concept, importance and relevance of the experiment in the day to day life. Conducted the programme in two Schools

 1. Municipal High School      2.CSM High School, Rajahmundry.

OPEN LAB DAY: Feb 28th, Science day was declared as open lab day. All the laboratories of departments were kept open and students from nearby schools were allowed to view the apparatus. Experiments displayed and explained in detailed by the students and faculty of the department.

JOY OF GIVING

MERIT STUDENTS FUND: 66 meritorious students of all sections of the college were identified and as a token of appreciation and encouragement, a document storing file and examination fee for the last semester was paid to them by one of the faculty of the Department Shri. Vobilineni Srinivas Rao garu.

ALUMNI AID: In 2015 commemorating “The international of year of light”, batch students of the department donated the statue of Einstien as a mark of respect for the scientist.

WE CARE: The last week of December was identified as “we care week”. Orphanages, Old age homes, disabilities, centers, Govt. hospitals etc., were identified and each day one charity work was initiated. Distribution of various items was taken up.

National Science Day 2017

The National Science Day with the theme, “Science and Technology for Specially Abled Persons”” was celebrated by the Department of Physics on 28.02.2017. The Principal Dr. David Kumar acted as the Chair Person while Dr. Ramani, Retd. Principal of SKR Women’s College, Rajamahendravaram Was the Chief Guest and Mr. Chaitanya, CEO, IT Company acted as the Guest of Honour.

The function started garlanding the statues of eminent scientists Ramanujan, Einstein and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam located in the science Block. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Dr. Ramani spoke on the importance of celebrating the Science Day on the birthday of Dr. CV Raman. She underlined relevance amidst various branches of physics and highlighted the importance of physics applications to our day to day life. She touched upon the achievements of great physicists and their contribution to the development of basic concepts simple pendulum. She also spoke on various formulae and equations. 

The Guest of Honour Sri. Chaitanya went on in an interactive mode. A number of questions from students on computer science and its applications in the form of software program proved highly rewarding to the students. He enlightened the students on the difference between animation and graphics. He also spoke on GPS, Google, Facebook etc.

In his closing remarks, the Principal said the future of the world lies in the hands of Physics. Already, India has begun to realize the fruits of Physics through scores. of successful experiments at ISRO. He also spoke of the role of physics in generating wealth and in upholding the honour of the country high among the nations of the world
