Seminar on "Significance of Indian Calendar" Organized at Government College A, Rajahmundry
Rajahmundry, [28-03-2025]: The Department of Fine Arts, in association with the Departments of Philosophy, Political Science, and Social Work, successfully organized the first lecture in the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Lecture Series on the topic "Significance of Indian Calendar."
The program was presided over by the college principal, Dr. K. Ramachandra Rao and the inaugural address was given.
Dr. Ramakrishna Pejathya, Associate Professor at Chanakya University, Bengaluru, was the keynote speaker for the event. He delivered an insightful lecture on the scientific and cultural relevance of the Indian calendar, highlighting its deep-rooted connection with astronomy, festivals, and timekeeping in Indian tradition.
The seminar witnessed the active participation of students and faculty members. The event was graced by Dr K. Sita Mahalakshmi, Incharge of the Fine Arts Department, and Dr. P. Babjee, Head of the Political Science Department. Other distinguished lecturers, including Satyam Suryanarayana, Saroja, S. Rani, Kusuma Kumari, Ramarao, Shankar Rao, Mahesh, and Padma Kumari, also contributed to the discussions.
The interactive session provided students with a valuable understanding of the Indian calendar’s historical and practical significance, fostering a deeper appreciation for traditional knowledge systems.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks By Dr K Sita Mahalakshmi emphasizing the importance of such academic discussions in preserving and promoting India’s rich intellectual heritage.
