The B.Sc., Botany (Honours) second year students who are accompanied by Dr. A. Srinivasa Rao, Lecturer in-charge, and Mr. K. Gani Raju faculty of the Botany Department started their field trip journey from the campus of Government College (Autonomous), Rajahmundry on 13-12-2024 at 09:30 AM. on our college vehicle (HI-GLOW) and reached Pandirimamidi by 11:15 AM then visited the Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University-Research Station-Pandirimamidi near Rampachodavaram, A.S.R district, Andhra Pradesh. Dr. K. Phani Kumar, research scientist, accepted to impart training to students and enlightened the activities undergoing in the research station.

Outcome:

During the visit students were enlightened the knowledge of various methods and techniques adopted in horticulture research and the significance of some rare plants utilizing since ancient times by the human beings and identified the necessity of sustainable propagation and conservation methodologies of the rich plant wealth. In this study students also acquainted knowledge on how the rare age old plant wealth like Sritalamu plays a vital role in biodiversity conservation. In addition to the human benefits. Particularly how the palm trees protect the high velocity winds in disasters and how their rough and hard products utilized other organisms in egg laying houses and nests with the help of leaves and fiber and protected natural blade like leaf edges who ever experienced in earlier studies. In addition to this, students also got good knowledge on rubber plantation their economic importance and marketing avenues of the extracted rubber and their products.
