The Department of Philosophy at Government College (Autonomous), Rajahmundry, organized the third edition of the Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Annual Memorial Lecture Series on September 2, 2026. The event, themed "Vedantam: Social Development," drew 120 students from the Philosophy, Political Science, Journalism & Mass Communication, and Sanskrit departments. Key Highlights of the Event:Inauguration & Legacy: The program opened with a torch-lighting ceremony and a welcome address by Philosophy Lecturer Sri M. Mahesh. Dr. K. Sita Mahalakshmi, Head of the Philosophy Department, detailed Dr. Radhakrishnan’s 1916–1918 teaching tenure at the college and his role in co-founding the Indian Philosophical Congress. Principal & Student Reflections: Principal Dr. Ramachandra R.K. urged students to look beyond textbooks to become responsible, value-oriented citizens. Student T. Manikanta also shared a tribute honoring Dr. Radhakrishnan as both an iconic philosopher and statesman. Keynote Discourse: Dr. Rayaprolu Venkata Kameswara Sarma delivered the central lecture, explaining how the core concepts of Vedanta foster ethical living, mutual respect, and social harmony in the modern world. Cultural Tribute & Q&A: The lecture was followed by a musical tribute from English Lecturer Dr. Noojilla Srinivas and a dynamic interactive session where students asked questions about applying Vedanta to contemporary ethical dilemmas. The memorial successfully deepened students' understanding of Indian Knowledge Systems. It concluded with a formal vote of thanks from the faculty coordinators, celebrating the interdisciplinary support of the numerous dignitaries and faculty members in attendance.

The event provided an enriching and transformative platform for students to reflect on the enduring relevance of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's philosophy. Participating students expressed that the lecture successfully broadened their understanding of Indian Knowledge Systems. Students gained practical insights into ancient wisdom, specifically learning how to apply Vedantic principles to modern governance, media, and daily ethical dilemmas through a dynamic interactive session. The program successfully fostered interdisciplinary academic engagement, bringing together 120 students from the Philosophy, Political Science, Journalism & Mass Communication, and Sanskrit departments.
