On September 30, 2026, the Departments of Philosophy and Political Science at Government Arts College (Autonomous), Rajamahendravaram, organized a collaborative academic program to commemorate Gandhi Jayanthi. The primary objective of the activity was to instill Mahatma Gandhi's timeless ideals, ethical values, and principles of truth (Satya) and non-violence (Ahimsa) among the student community. The activity commenced with a keynote address by Dr. K. Seetha Mahalakshmi, who highlighted key milestones in Gandhi's life and encouraged students to internalize his teachings. Following the address, the organizing departments conducted two main academic competitions: Elocution Competition: Centered on the theme "The Relevance of Gandhi's Thoughts in the Modern World". Twelve students participated by delivering speeches that applied Gandhian philosophy to contemporary societal issues. Quiz Competition: Focused on "The Life History, Writings, and Philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi". This event engaged 23 enthusiastic first-year students from both departments, who were divided into five competing teams. Overall, the activity served as an engaging platform for students to gain a deeper, more nuanced understanding of Gandhi's literature, historical milestones, and foundational ideals.
