Dr. S. Shanmukh Samatham, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT), Hyderabad has given a guest lecture on title "Research in Materials Science - Recent Trends, Significance and Requirements". This guest lecture is conducted by Department of Physics, Government College (autonomous), Rajahmundry was conducted. He addressed UG and PG students by elaborating the importance of material science in day to day life. He also emphasized the necessity to pursue research as a career. Different stages of Ph.D career and the steps to overcome the hurdles have been explained. Importantly, seven topical research domains have been identified among them nanotechnology, smart materials, biomaterials, computational materials and energy materials are a few. Towards the end, the recent results about the materials related to spintronics, skyrimions in particular have been discussed. The guest lecture involved the students by asking the questions. In this guest lecture, Smt. Ch. Komala Lakshmi, In-charge, Department of Physics, other physics faculty members and students have participated.
