The B.Sc., Botany (Honours) second year students who are accompanied by Dr. A. Srinivasa Rao, Lecturer in-charge, Sri. N. Nageswara Raoand Mr. K. Gani Raju faculty of the Botany Department started their field trip journey from the campus of Government College (Autonomous), Rajahmundry on 21-03-2024 at 09:30 AM. on special purpose college vehicle (HI-GLOW-Lab on Wheels) and reached Vemagiri by 10:00 AM then visited the ICAR-Directorate of Floricultural Research- Regional Station, Vemagiri, Kadiyam mandal, Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Rampal, research scientist, accepted to impart training to students and enlightened the activities undergoing in the research station.
During this visit, the main scientists and other technical staff guided and demonstrated various activities carried out at the stations in sophisticated equipped laboratories, field trail plots and poly-houses etc. to the students. The students actively involved and interacted in the demonstrations and observed carefully various technical and skill aspects adopted in the floricultural research.
The research station also focused on propagation and acclimatization of various orchids and successfully maintained controlled conditions in poly-houses which was specially attracted by the students as an innovative and entrepreneurial introduction to this region.

Outcome:
This study trip enlightened the students on various aspects of floriculture research and production, land management and marketing avenues particularly suited for this region. Especially the production of orchid flowers newly introduced to this region through this research station.

Students said that they got knowledge on the floriculture and their potential in propagation, cultivation, disease management and marketing avenues through this field visit.
