PROGRAM REPORT: NATIONAL YOUTH DAY CELEBRATIONS Government Arts College (Autonomous), Rajamahendravaram Organized by: Department of Philosophy Date: January 7, 2026 1. Introduction In observance of National Youth Day (celebrated annually on January 12th), the Department of Philosophy organized a commemorative program at the Government Arts College (Autonomous), Rajamahendravaram. The event aimed to honor the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and inspire students to adopt his principles of strength, character, and service. 2. Program Activities The celebration was marked by a blend of digital learning and academic competition: Documentary Screening: The program began with a documentary film showcasing the life of Swami Vivekananda, his spiritual quest, and his transformative journey to the West. Keynote Lectures: Dr. K. Seetha Mahalakshmi (HOD, Philosophy) explained the significance of the 1893 Chicago World Parliament of Religions and Vivekananda’s relationship with his guru, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa. Principal Prof. K. Ramachandra Rao addressed the students, quoting Vivekananda’s vision: "Youth power is the foundation of national progress." Quiz Competition: A specialized quiz was conducted on the biography, works, and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. A total of 30 students participated with great zeal. 3. Competitive Results The competition saw high engagement, with students from the Commerce Department sweepingly securing the top positions. Vani Sujatha B.Com 2nd Year Award Ceremony: These winners will be officially felicitated with prizes on January 12, 2026, during the National Youth Day main event. 4. Faculty Participation The event was successfully coordinated and supervised by: Dr. K. Seetha Mahalakshmi, Head of the Department of Philosophy. Sri M. Mahesh, Lecturer in Philosophy. Dr. Rani, Department of Social Work. 5. Conclusion Participants noted that the quiz and documentary provided a "deep dive" into Vivekananda’s philosophy beyond just textbooks. The event concluded with a collective resolve among the students to follow the path of "Arise, Awake, and Stop not till the goal is reached."
